Pray For Peace
Poetry by Ellen Bass
Pray to whomever you kneel down to:
Jesus nailed to his wooden or marble or plastic cross,
his suffering face bent to kiss you,
Buddha still under the Bo tree in scorching heat,
Adonai, Allah. Raise your arms to Mary . . .

C.M. Bonny Harrison, a Sun reader, has kept this poem on her refrigerator for five years “as a daily reminder that everyday activities provide opportunities to ask for peace — not only for myself but also for all of humanity. My copy is yellow with age, much like my old refrigerator and also my very self.”
